Online service Sony has announced the return of more than one month after Sony's PlayStation Network was taken offline by hackers. It is estimated that hundred million PSN accounts were compromised in the unprecedented attack.

From my perspective it's interesting to see how both Microsoft and Sony tried to do business in the areas where they have been beaten in, "to save money." Remember the cost of a hardware perspective, Microsoft Xbox 360 billion dollars (and user) on chips for Microsoft's desire to save money due. My Xbox 360 red ringed about a year ago and has been gathering dust since the running for my launch 60GB PS3 continues to chug Folding @ Home (join team 55267 GadgetMadness) 24 a day, 7 days a week, 365 hours days a year with zero problems whatsoever. A network perspective, Microsoft Xbox Live and our online offerings always generally superior to Sony's free service PSN is believed to have been charged for. Sony has so far not a heavy investment in network infrastructure or security can think of. I am a believer in both systems - the competition is a good thing. Full press release after the jump to Sony.
